Sydney FC on a record unbeaten run after A-League victory over Adelaide United

Sydney FC have broken the record for longest unbeaten run from the start of the season in the A-League, following the recent 4-0 victory over Adelaide United.

Graham Arnold’s men have had a blistering start to the 2016-17 season, scoring 29 goals and conceding only five so far. Their recent rout of the South Australian outfit at the Coopers Stadium on Boxing Day took their tally to 12-games unbeaten so far.

Filip Holosko netted one in the first-half during which the hosts had not looked particularly shabby despite missing some chances. However, the second-half showcased a completely different story, much in the vein of the dismal run that Adelaide have had this season. Alex Brosque scored twice during this time, with Rhyan Grant getting on the score sheet as well.

Prior to the game, Adelaide were the record holders with an unbeaten run of 11 games in the 2010-11 season with seven wins. In an almost poetic fashion, Sydney broke the record by comprehensively beating the club that held it. Just as impressive as the unbeaten record itself is the fact the men from New South Wales have an impressive nine wins in the 12 matches they have played so far.

Sydney will take on Brisbane Roar in their next game at the Allianz Stadium on Friday.
