Adelaide United manager Guillermo Amor ‘confident’ of signing new players

Adelaide United boss Guillermo Amor insists that the club is “confident” of securing some positive signings during the current transfer window.

The Reds have had a tough time in the A-League this season, having been unable to replicate the kind of a turnaround in form that saw them become champions last year.

Instead, they have managed only two wins in the league this season, slumping down to ninth place – and not going down any further only by virtue of goal difference.

Meanwhile, the recent departure of Spanish striker Sergi Guardiola will mean that the South Australian outfit will likely have to bolster their ranks to push upwards in the league.

In a slightly different light, Iacopo La Rocca was granted Australian citizenship in November last year, which means that the Reds can sign more international names.

“The coaching staff and I are in constant contact with our General Manager of Football, Ante Kovacevic, and we speak every day about the players we are wanting to bring into the Club for the rest of the season,” Amor said, according to the official A-League website.

“The transfer window is open until 1 February, we have room in the team, and we are confident of signing players that fit our football and that have the quality we need.”

Adelaide will take on Wellington Phoenix at the Hindmarsh Stadium on Sunday.
