Adelaide United manager Guillermo Amor rues the missed opportunities where he believes the Reds should have scored against Sydney FC.
The two sides clashed at the Coopers Stadium on Boxing day, with the intentions of both sides being very clear. The New South Wales club were at the top of the league, while their opponents languished at rock bottom.
After 90 minutes, however, nothing changed as Sydney put in a superb performance to run riot with a 4-0 victory in South Australia. But the game was not one-way traffic all the way, since Amor’s men did showcase some reasonable football during the first-half. However, they were unable to put away their chances.
“The result today is 4-0, it’s a bad result,” Amor is quoted as saying by The Sydney Morning Herald.
“But in the first half they arrive [at the goal] one time and they score.
“First we arrived and we don’t score.
“These misses aren’t an excuse, this is football.”
Adelaide have won only one of their first 12 games in the 2016-17 season so far, while Sydney are on a record 12-match unbeaten streak at the moment.
