Newcastle Jets have confirmed that they have acquired the services of brothers Dimitri and Kosta Petratos, from Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory respectively.
The older brother will link up with the squad following the end of this campaign with the Roar, and has put pen to paper on a three-year contract that goes on until the end of the 2019-20 season.
Meanwhile, the 18-year-old younger Petratos will join the club on a season-long contract initially, after performing well with Perth Glory as well as putting in some excellent performances for the Australia U-17 side in the past.
” Dimitri will be a great asset to the club,” said Newcastle boss Mark Jones, according to the club’s official website.
“It is good that some of the best players in the country want to come and play for the Jets.”
He continued: “Kosta is an emerging talent. I have always said that I am keen to work with the best young kids in the country to develop them into Hyundai A-League players and beyond.”
The Jets are currently in eighth place in the league, but are only a point behind sixth-placed Wellington Phoenix. In the meantime, Jones’ men will take on a patchy Melbourne City side at the Coffs Harbour International Stadium on Friday.
