Melbourne City have confirmed that defender Connor Chapman has moved to K-League club Incheon United for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old graduated from the Newcastle Jets’ academy and joined their first-team in 2012, spending two years at the club during which they finished eighth and seventh respectively.
After two disappointing finishes in consecutive years, the young centre-half joined City and was a part of the squads that had two top-six finishes and just as many semi-finals’ appearances in the Final Series.
During that time, the defender combated and overcame illness to put in some strong performances in the 2014-15 season that saw him being nominated for the Young Footballer of the Year award.
Earlier on last year, the former Newcastle man penned a contract extension to stay in Melbourne, but has now chosen to ply his trade in the K-League with Incheon United.
City will continue their campaign against Chapman’s former club – Newcastle – with an away game on Friday; a day after Australia Day.
