Ante Milicic insists that Macarthur FC will approach every game they play with a view of picking up three points.
The South Western Sydney outfit are currently playing their first ever season in the A-League, and started brightly by beating Western Sydney Wanderers away from home. But they are yet to register a win a home following a 2-0 defeat to Central Coast Mariners and the recent 1-1 draw with Wellington Phoenix.
In that game, the Nix were down to 10-men after 62 minutes, when Alex Rufer was controversially sent off for an early shower. The Bulls were trailing by a goal at that point and managed to get back on even terms with Markel Susaeta getting on the scoresheet. But despite putting their opponents under intense pressure towards the end, Milicic’s men were unable to find the winner.
As the wait continues in Campbelltown for a first ever home victory in the league, the former Matildas boss insists that his charges will do their best whether they are playing at home or away.
“A win is important, home or away, and with the team – we’ll go to every game and try to win the game,” Milicic told reporters.
“We won’t sit back. We won’t invite pressure. We won’t look to hit teams on the counter. We’ll go for three points every game. We won’t adjust our style.
“Look, today we got a point and I think it’s a starting point with our supporters. We definitely let them down six days ago [against Central Coast Mariners].
“We had an opportunity today to get it right. But I think in the end we came home well. We were looking for that win and hopefully when we get another opportunity here, we can send our supporters home with three points.”
Macarthur take on Newcastle Jets in an away game at the Newcastle International Sports Centre next Sunday.
