Western United have announced the signing of midfielder Iker Guarrotxena, with the 28-year old reported to have started training at the Truganina-based club.
THe Green and Black side did well to finish fifth in the table last season to qualify for the Finals Series, where they lost to Melbourne City in the semi-finals.
Having started their time in the A-League on a positive note, manager Mark Rudan now has more options in the centre following the arrival of the Spaniard.
The former Bilbao Athletic – the reserve team of Athletic Bilbao – player arrived after two years with Polish side Pogon Szczecin and is hoping for a positive run out with his new employers.
“I’m happy to finally be here,” Guarrotxena said, according to the club’s official website.
“I have a big season in front of me. I have motivation because I think this is a good opportunity for me to grow with the club, so I’m happy.
“So my first target is to have a good season with the club, with the team, and of course, my personal target is to score goals.
“I’m trying hard these next few weeks and I’m focused to perform and try to help the team.”
