Brisbane Roar boss Warren Moon believes that Dylan Wenzel-Halls will get much better as the season progresses, after the striker put in a solid shift in the recent 3-1 victory over Adelaide United.
The 23-year-old has been in red hot form so far this season, scoring four goals in his last three matches in the A-League. The attacker has earned plaudits for his play on and off the ball coupled with his ability to dribble past defenders with pace on multiple occasions.
That form has seen Brisbane go to the top of the league, albeit with this still being early days in the season. But the the two goals against Adelaide coupled with bright individual performances means that he is likely to give Olyroos boss Graham Arnold a selection headache ahead of the Tokyo Olympics.
“He’s good. He’s been good every week since he’s played,” Moon rold the press.
“So now he’s getting his rewards. His performance was good tonight – two goals. We’re happy with him.
The rich vein of form shown by Wenzel-Halls has seen him go to the top of the scoring charts so far this season, as he is currently tied with fellow Australian attacker Nicholas D’Agostino with four goals each in four games.
Moon insists that there is a lot more to come from the young forward, maintaining that he will get better as he gains more confidence in his play.
He added: “I won’t go into everything now but we talk all the time about things we can work on and improve on and I think Dylan is really, really self-aware of what he needs to do.
“But he’s really, really hungry to improve as a player and that’s the one thing I say about him, he’s such a hungry player to improve and be better.
“I’m sure that, as he gets more and more confidence, we’ll start to see an even better Dylan.”
Brisbane Roar beat Melbourne Victory during the start of the year, and will face them again in the reverse fixture at the Dolphin Stadium on Saturday.
