Adelaide United Carl Veart believes that the upcoming game against Perth Glory will produce some entertaining football, insisting that his charges have learned from previous mistakes made against the Western Australian side.
The Reds visited th Perth Rectangular Stadium earlier in the season and were stunned by a raucous performance from Richard Garcia’s men that saw them concede five goals.
While the scoreline ended up being 5-3 with the men in purple taking all three points on the night, the manner in which the game went showcased Adelaide being thoroughly outplayed.
The 50-year-old head coach now believes that the mistakes made by his charges during that encounter have been rectified, and expects a solid performance against Perth when the two sides meet in Hindmarsh on Friday night.
“After that performance, we had a good look at that performance and it wasn’t acceptable the way that we defended and the way that we played with the ball,” Veart told reporters.
“That was our biggest concern, what we did when we had the ball. So we’ve had a good look at that and this week we worked again just on our structures and what we want to happen in the game.”
Perth have a combination of very experienced players in the form of Diego Castro, Andy Keogh, Bruno Fornaroli, Neil Kilkenny among others, but also showcase a new generation in the form of Carlo Armiento, Nicholas D’Agostino and Dane Ingham and a few other names in the squad.
But the Adelaide boss believes that his charges have learned their lesson and will put in a solid shift on Friday night.
“Perth have got a very good squad,” Veart acknowledged. “They’ve got a lot of quality, experienced players with a sprinkling of a couple of youngsters in their team.
“But they’ve got a very experienced team, a very good team and they’ve had some excellent results so far. So I think it’s going to be a very entertaining game and I’m really looking forward to it.”
