Carl Veart has admitted that Adelaide United would be very keen to bring Craig Goodwin back to the club.
The 29-year-old has had two very successful stints at the South Australian club in the past, winning the A-League Premiership and Championship in 2015-16 during his first stint at the club.
Following the success in Australia, the Adelaide-born wide man left to ply his trade for the oldest professional football club in the Netherlands in the form of Sparta Rotterdam.
During the course of two seasons with the Dutch outfit, Goodwin once saved them from relegation on the final day of the 2016-17 season but struggled get enough time on the pitch in the campaign that followed.
A mutual termination of his contract with Sparta ensued, after which the winger returned to the City of Churches and won the FFA Cup in 2018 becoming the top scorer in the competition that year with five goals.
The success achieved with United caught the eye of Saudi Arabian club Al-Wehda, who triggered a sale through meeting the buyout clause in his contract. But in the more recent past, the wide man was loaned out to Abha and a two year contract with his parent club appears to be close to expiring.
With speculation concerning the Goodwin’s future heating up, Veart has admitted that Adelaide would gladly have the winger should he be interested in a third stint with the Reds.
“Craig’s a very proud South Australian and he’s had a lot of success here at the club,” Veart told reporters.
“And if there’s an opportunity to bring him back the club will jump at it.”
