Diego Castro set to play ‘vital role’ for Perth Glory against Melbourne City

Perth Glory manager Richard Garcia believes that skipper Diego Castro will play an important role for his side in the upcoming game against Melbourne City.

The Western Australian outfit play their third consecutive away game against a Victorian club, having lost to both Western United and Melbourne Victory recently.

Castro had been sidelined due to a leg injury and is yet to feature in the A-League this season. But Perth have managed to do well in the attacking third with strong performances from Nicholas D’Agostino, Bruno Fornaroli and Andy Keogh, putting 10 goals past opposing teams this season.

Yet with travel, two defeats and the quick turnaround of games, the Glory boss could rotate the squad to replace tired legs.

“Pretty confident [Castro] will play a vital role in the game,” Garcia told reporters.

“He’s still getting up to speed so he’ll be in and amongst it.

“He’s a vital part of the squad, like all of the senior players who came in and add that much needed experience.

“It’ll be good to have him back around the place and an extra experienced player in the group.”

Perth Glory take on Melbourne City at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium on Sunday night.
