Western Sydney Wanderers goalkeeper Daniel Margush ‘really excited’ ahead of Sydney derby

Western Sydney Wanderers goalkeeper Daniel Margush is relishing the prospect of being involved in the upcoming blockbuster derby against Sydney FC.

The Wanderers began their A-League campaign with a defeat to new boys Macarthur FC, but recovered by picking up all three in points in a 2-1 away day victory over Newcastle Jets.

Sydney on the other hand started their campaign as they ended the last one, with the champions registering a 2-1 win against Wellington Phoenix in Wollongong.

The 23-year-old shot-stopper has maintained that he is eagerly looking forward to his first Sydney derby, but insists that the Wanderers will keep their feet on the ground as they prepare for the big game ahead.

“Yeah, [I am] really excited,” Margush said on the club’s official website.

“Obviously I’ve looked on from the outside before and it’s always been a big game and a big occasion. So it’s just great that I’ve got the chance to be involved now.

“But at the same time, the way we approach it – it’s just another game. You can’t let hype kind of affect your mental state. So we’re pumped, but we’re still level headed going into it.”

Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC will fight it out to further their respective ambitions at Stadium Australia on Saturday.
