Alex Brosque calls on Sydney FC to set straight derby day record

Fiery Football

Former Sydney FC striker Alex Brosque believes that the club need to turn the tide and overcome Western Sydney Wanderers in the upcoming derby game between the two sides.

The Sky Blues have the historical bragging rights of having won 12 of the 25 times the two well supported sides have met each other on the pitch. Performances over recent seasons have also been stellar, with the club establishing a period of dominance as they did an A-League Premiership and Championship double.

Despite strong showings against other clubs in the league, Sydney have not managed to win their last four games against the Wanderers.

“That’s probably the only disappointing thing from a Sydney FC fan point-of-view, I think, over the last couple of seasons,” Brosque said on the Sydney FC Pre-Game Show on the club’s official website.

“We definitely had a good run over them. But now we haven’t won in a while. So I think it’s something we need to correct.”

Sydney FC play Western Sydney Wanderers in an early season derby at Stadium Australia on Saturday evening.
