Grant Brebner expects Melbourne Victory to be prepared against ‘battered & bruised’ Adelaide United

Fiery Football

Melbourne Victory manager Grant Brebner insists his side will be well prepared for the clash against a “battered and bruised” Adelaide United on Saturday night.

The Reds come into the game following a heavy handed 5-3 loss to Perth Glory in Western Australia, in a game that saw them being thoroughly outplayed by Richard Garcia’s men.

While it could be said that the form shown by Adelaide in their recent defeat could have Victory fans feeling positive, Brebner remains cautiously optimistic ahead of the clash in the City of Churches.

“I’m sure Adelaide will wake up this morning pretty battered and bruised,” the Scot told reporters.

“It’s never easy to lose five goals in a game.

“But from our perspective, it might not be a good thing. When you do concede heavily, then you generally get a reaction the game after.

“We’ll be prepared for that. But I genuinely feel that if we look after our own house, it doesn’t really worry me [about] what is going on in other teams.”

Melbourne Victory have a busy schedule for the rest of the month, as they take on Adelaide United at Hindmarsh Stadium on Saturday night, after which they lock horns with Perth Glory on Tuesday followed by a clash against Western United next Saturday.
